When I started in Product Design, I sought a holistic understanding of the user-centered design process. Combining a graduate certificate in Human-Centered Design with my background in visual design, I found the sweet spot between beautiful interaction design and research-based product design. This has paid off in every project since, leading with an intuitive approach to design and a plethora of tools to choose from at each phase of the process.

Senior Product Designer
Seekr

2023 - 2024

As the lead user experience designer for our AI product suite, I specialize in leveraging our Generative AI model to assess content against the Global Alliance for Responsible Media's journalistic integrity standards, transforming these insights into tangible value for our customers. I have also successfully designed an innovative app from the ground up, which matches podcasts with media planners' brand suitability requirements, officially launched in December 2023. Working closely with User Experience Research (UXR) and Product Management teams, I play a pivotal role in guiding our product strategy, translating research findings into actionable steps, and setting the stage for both our long-term vision and step-by-step execution.

Senior Product Designer
Verizon Robotics

2018 - 2022

Led the user experience for half our core product, conducting extensive customer research and crafting solutions that met the needs for drone pilots.

Earning my Part 107 Pilot Certificate, I researched alongside users in the field and advocated for solutions that solved end-to-end user workflow. I drove alignment and influenced product strategy by socializing user journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes with cross-functional teams throughout the user-centered design process. I worked on cross-platform projects that led to increased customer lifetime revenue by 250 percent.

By closely collaborating with product management and engineering, I helped users plan their day, execute missions and translate media into tangible ROI for their team. We were the first aviation management platforms to deliver a complete solution for drone pilots which led to partnerships with Disney, John Deere and UPS.

Product Designer
Skyward

2018 -2019

Skyward worked like a startup within Verizon Innovation group, allowing me to wear many hats across design, strategy and product management.

My first initiative was to lead a comprehensive redesign our mobile app, transitioning from an React Native to an iOS Native app. This involved migrating approximately 20 features, implementing user experience (UX) improvements, and ensuring seamless integration with our web application. We released the redesign on schedule and exceeded our user satisfaction scores by 35%.

Following that project, I was spearheaded the development of an Android app. I hired two talented designers to design feature parity with our iOS app. Throughout both projects, we leveraged native (HIG & Material) and in-house design systems to deliver consistent results in half the time.

Collaborating with PM’s, engineers and QA, I implement solutions across web and mobile which established us as industry leaders in drone aviation management. My work led to 72% user retention rates through core JTBD workflows.

Product Designer
Altsource

2017 - 2018

Altsource is a custom software agency serving clients like Consumer Cellular, Special Olympics and Goodwill. I was the lead designer for prospect accounts and Consumer Cellular.

I won contracts with four new clients by researching, ideating, and pitching high-fidelity prototypes that gave companies the insights to digitally transform their business. I enjoyed working in a wide variety of problem spaces like with a trucking, banks, and restaurants.

I spent the other half of my time with Consumer Cellular, our number one client. I paired with engineers and researchers to implement changes to update legacy software for web and mobile. I led improvements in the billing functionality and UI that improved user satisfaction scores by 28% and impacting over four million subscribers.

Eagleview, an aerial photography company with a stronghold on the roof measurement world, was my first UX role out of the Masters program that wonderfully combined my background in photography with design.

I was the sole designer for a virtual claims inspection tool that empowered insurance adjusters to close hail damage claims remotely. I partnered with engineering and product leadership to develop a plan that would center around user research, experimentation and iteration. After six months, I designed two internal tools and a web application that improved adjuster productivity by 50-60%, won a $xxx million contract with Allstate Insurance and led to a 2018 Data/Analytics Novarica Impact Award.

Education

Masters Certificate, User-Centered Design
University of Washington

At UW, I established a strong user-centered design foundation and worked with local tech companies like Amazon, Microsoft and HTC to apply our learnings to real world applications.

I worked four projects:

  • a mobile app to help students connect their degree to careers

  • a cross-platform motivational fitness app

  • HTC usability research for the RE Camera

  • Thesis: a e-commerce web/mobile/future platform connecting family members through food

Bachelor of Arts, Photography
University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire

Here, my creativity was energized by the coolest hidden-nook of art professors east of the Mississippi. I was interested in challenging the relationship between light and the camera to make conceptual art.

Afterward, I moved to Toronto where I became a Photographer for the Art Gallery of Ontario. This was a dream come true at the time, combining my two favorite areas of study — photography and Art History. I also continued taking pictures, building conceptual artwork and exhibiting work around the city.

Superpowers

Unique talents I discovered at a very young age and continue to develop to this day.

It started when I was 7, being curious about why my parents were laughing (nonstop) at Saturday Night Live.

Now, it’s my genuine curiosity for others, and my ability to understand the nuances behind their behavior.

It started when my grandma gave me a film camera when I was 5 years old and consistently encouraged me to improve.

Now, it’s my ability to generate unique and innovative ideas that push the boundaries of what we can do with new technology.

It started with a fascination for chess in elementary school.

Now, it’s my ability to see the big picture, identify long-term goals, and formulate actionable steps to achieve them.
